The District of Sooke
Located only 35 minutes west of Victoria, Sooke is an up and coming community. With an approximate population of 12,000 Sooke became incorporated in 1999. There is a growing business section in the downtown core, good schools, sports facilities and an excellent museum.
Sooke enjoys some of the mildest climate in western Canada, with warm and dry summer months, and wet, mild winter months, allowing residents and visitors to enjoy many recreational activities including excellent fishing, boating, hunting, hiking and horseback riding. It is the gateway to numerous ecotourism adventures as well as the West Coast Trail, Juan de Fuca Marine Trail, and Galloping Goose Trail.
