It is my pleasure to recommend Laura Godbeer as a realtor and as a person.
Buying or selling a house is difficult. Not only because of all the details surrounding the pricing of the house but also because of the awful emotional side, which is a side that I have found so many realtors seem to completely ignore . The choice to move doesn’t always come as a result of something pleasant; life can throw some curves that force one to sell a home. And even if the move is welcome, it always comes with so much uncertainty, so many decisions, and so many worries that one will make a bad decision, a big bad decision that can’t be changed. I know this from experience – I have bought and sold six of my own houses.
But that’s where Laura Godbeer is special. She understands this emotional side, and how very big it is. I knew that the first time I met her. I had called her as one of three realtors when I had to put up for sale the house my mother and I lived in when mom died last year. Laura arrived at the door with brochures and information just as the other two realtors had, but the first thing she said was, “I am sorry about your mother,”, and the first thing she did was hand me a beautiful bouquet of flowers.
It was the beginning of a successful professional relationship but also a friendship. Laura didn’t just offer well-researched and well-thought-through advice about price and what to repair and what wasn’t worth repairing, but she listened carefully and fully to my concerns and my hopes. Yes, her advice always reflected sound thinking about the market but what I particularly appreciated was how flexible that advice always was in terms of what I could manage, and how we might be able to achieve the best balance.
Another of Laura’s unique skills is her ability to get things done well and with a minimum of fuss. Her organizing of the various movers (I had to have pieces of furniture and other of mom’s special mementoes sent to seven other siblings in five locations across Canada), and the seemingly endlessly required number of trades people to prepare the house for sale just seemed to happen by magic, it was so efficiently done by Laura.
Through all of this, it was such a relief to have someone like Ms. Godbeer beside me.
Thank you, Laura.
